The Role
Working within a Family Office and responsible for assisting the CFO to manage and analyse the business and investment entities that exist within the group. The position also includes assisting with the tax and accounting compliance including the liaison for the external auditors of the broader group of companies. 

Essential duties/requirements of the role:            
Private Group responsibilities:-

  • Regular reporting and analysis on two main trading entities performance (monthly)
  • Regular reporting and analysis on group investments
  • Creation of an audit file of supporting documents on a monthly / quarterly basis for the various group entities
  • BAS and IAS preparation and lodgement for group entities and reconciliation back to the balance sheet
  • Preparation of end of year tax reconciliation workpapers for review by CFO.
  • Tax return preparation for various entities (consolidated tax group plus companies, trusts, SMSF’s and individuals) and relevant supporting workpapers
  • Preparation of Base rate entity calculations
  • Preparation of detailed company disclosure workings for consolidated group tax returns
  • Assist to develop a governance and framework document in preparation for ATO Next 5000 review
  • Inter entity loan account reconciliation amongst group entities as required
  • Maintain asset register
  • Payroll tax return preparation
  • ASIC maintenance and corporate file updates as required
  • Assist transactional staff as required (bookkeeper, payroll)
  • Payroll and payments review and authorisation function (one of a dual set of authorities)

Commercial responsibilities:-

  • Monthly and quarterly reporting for major business entities and associated trusts (maintain and then improve current reporting standards)
  • Build analysis and reporting tools for major business entities
  • Generation of quarterly board reporting pack for review by CFO on a timely basis (for reporting to the board and JV partner)
  • Creation of an audit file of supporting documents on a monthly / quarterly basis for the various group entities
  • Payroll tax return preparation
  • Liaise with the external auditors for interim and year end audit work
  • Assistance with preparation of reduced disclosure GPFS
  • ASIC maintenance and corporate file updates as required
  • Assist the transactional staff as required (bookkeeper, payroll)
  • Payroll and payments review and authorisation function (one of a dual set of authorities)

Other responsibilities:-

  • Ad hoc assistance to the CFO
  • Develop ad hoc financial and operational reporting as needed

  
Minimum requirements:             

  • A minimum of 4 years of experience in a similar role or within a public practice tax firm
  • CA/CPA Qualified
  • Ability to pick up new systems and processes
  • Attention to detail is important
  • Be able to review a balance sheet at period end and create meaningful workpapers to support balances
  • Excellent Excel Skills
